AC-related allergies: environmental cleaning is not treatment
Contents
If you have nasal congestion, sneezing or a runny nose in an air-conditioned room, you cannot conclude that the air conditioner caused an allergy based on timing alone. Temperature changes, dust mites, mould, other irritants and personal medical conditions may all require professional assessment.
Environment that can be improved first
Avoid long periods of direct cold airflow and adjust the settings according to comfort needs. Also check whether there is dust buildup, damp marks or obvious pollution sources in the room. A standard indoor circulation air conditioner is not the same as a fresh-air system.
A thermo-hygrometer can help with observation, but readings are affected by where it is placed. Do not blindly add moisture before understanding the humidity and its cause, and do not use fragrance or sprays to mask a mouldy smell.
Purpose and Limits of Cleaning
Clean washable dust filters safely according to the manufacturer’s instructions, and handle damaged or dedicated filter cartridges by model. Do not fit an unverified high-resistance filter yourself, as this may affect airflow.
Heavy dirt buildup can be assessed for cleaning, but cleaning is not medical treatment. We do not promise to cure nasal allergies, asthma, or remove all allergens. Other dust sources in the home should also be noted.
When should you seek medical advice?
If symptoms continue or repeatedly affect sleep or daily life, seek medical help. If breathing becomes difficult or symptoms worsen suddenly, seek urgent help and do not wait for the AC cleaning appointment.
Do not use an article as a reason to self-medicate, stop medication or change nasal treatment. Note the environment and time when symptoms appear; this can be supplementary information for a medical visit, but it is not a basis for self-diagnosis.
Handle equipment abnormalities separately
If there is a burning smell, smoke, a tripped breaker, water near electrical parts, or an abnormal rubbing sound, stop using the equipment and arrange an inspection. These are not issues that can be handled by ordinary nose-irritation temperature adjustment tips.
If cleaning is required, you may provide the model, location and photos of the dirt so the service scope can be confirmed according to the actual condition. Without medical testing, we do not claim that a specific pathogen or bacterial concentration is present inside the unit.

Reference sources and applicable scope
This article provides a preliminary guide only and does not replace an on-site diagnosis. Original manufacturer functions and operation apply only to the corresponding model; please refer to your own unit's manual. For fixed electrical installations, inspection should be arranged by a registered electrical contractor.
