Autumn AC cleaning and restarting next season: what records should be kept
Contents
Whether AC cleaning should be done in autumn depends first on usage and the unit’s condition, not on the cooler weather. If the unit will be switched off after cleaning, record the cleaning, shutdown and next-season restart in stages; a normal test on the day does not guarantee there will be no fault next summer.
Record the cleaning area and any existing issues on the day of service
Keep the model, the parts actually cleaned, the indoor and outdoor scope, the restoration and test-run results, and note whether any existing dripping, noise or cooling problems still require separate handling. Do not treat the cleaning record as proof that the whole system and all hidden parts have been inspected.
Follow the manufacturer's shutdown procedure
Check the model's long-term shutdown requirements, drying function and power-off requirements, and note the filter and dust-control arrangements. Different models cannot share one airflow duration, and do not keep running the unit or spray perfume or disinfectant inside it to cover odours.
Check the site again before reusing
From a safe position, confirm that the inlet and outlet are unobstructed, that any removable filter has been reinstalled according to the instructions, and check for visible damage and dripping. For equipment that has taken in water, tripped or has a burning smell, arrange an inspection first; do not repeatedly switch it on just because it was cleaned last season.
How to enquire about new abnormalities
State clearly when the fault started, the settings, the symptoms, and whether there was any other work during that period, and attach the previous service record. The service provider will confirm whether it is related to the original problem, cleaning, or other causes, and follow up according to the applicable terms; do not assume every issue can be repaired for free or solved by cleaning again.
