AC TIPS & ADVICE

When to arrange air conditioning cleaning: decide based on the unit’s condition, not the peak season

Contents

There is no single ideal month for AC cleaning that suits every household. First check the manufacturer’s maintenance requirements, the actual level of dirt buildup, hours of use, and whether there are any operating issues. Then decide whether filter cleaning, internal cleaning, or a fault inspection is needed. Fees and dates are subject to the quote and schedule for that visit.

When ready to resume use

Check the restart requirements after long-term shutdown according to the model, and inspect the filter, air inlet/outlet, and visible damage from a safe position. Do not run a long test just because the season is getting warmer. Equipment that has been wet, tripped, or has a burning smell should be inspected first.

Separate arrangements for routine filter maintenance and whole-unit cleaning

Check the filter according to the manufacturer’s requirements and dust buildup; some can be washed, while some special filter media cannot be soaked. Internal parts should be assessed separately for cleaning; do not treat all filters as annual replacement consumables, and do not brush the fan wheel or rinse the ductwork yourself.

Symptoms do not necessarily mean only cleaning is needed

Record when dripping water, poor cooling, unusual noise, or odour appears, and first confirm the scope of inspection. Cleaning removes dirt buildup, but it does not repair refrigerant leaks, damaged parts, or installation issues. If there is a clear abnormality, do not delay treatment just to wait for a certain cleaning month.

How to avoid misunderstandings when booking

Provide the model, quantity, items under the unit and photos of accessible areas, and confirm indoor and outdoor work, extra handling and post-completion testing. Do not assume any season is always less busy, has a shorter schedule, or gives the technician more time; the actual arrangement must be confirmed in writing.

Keep maintenance records for the next assessment

Keep the cleaning date, parts covered, dirt build-up and usage records, and adjust the next arrangement according to changes. A completed cleaning does not mean the unit will definitely not break down, never develop mould, or achieve a fixed level of electricity savings for the entire summer.
