How should an old air conditioner be disposed of? 4 ways

Contents

Under the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Producer Responsibility Scheme, consumers are responsible for ensuring that discarded air conditioners or other 4-in-1 electrical appliances and electronics are properly recycled to reduce environmental impact

If you need to dispose of old appliances, in addition to buying a new air conditioner or other regulated electrical appliances, residents may request the seller to arrange the free statutory removal service, or may use the following service:

  • Call the recycling hotline (2676 8888) to enquire about recycling channels and book a pickup appointment;
  • Send old electrical appliances to the "GREEN@COMMUNITY" programme for onward handover to recyclers for proper disposal;
  • The used appliance recycling truck will visit the 18 District on weekends and Sundays in rotation to collect used appliances handed in by residents.

For old appliance removal and recycling arrangements, please refer to the Environmental Protection Department's "4-in-1 Recycling" scheme information below
