Before using the AC again in summer: filters, existing issues and inspection preparation
Contents
Before using the AC again in summer, first check the filters and visible condition according to the model’s restart-after-inactivity instructions. If there is existing dripping, tripping or a burning smell, arrange an inspection first. Preparing early helps both sides confirm the work, but one cleaning does not guarantee the whole summer will be trouble-free.
Residents should only carry out routine tasks allowed by the manufacturer.
Check whether the air inlet and outlet are blocked from a safe position, and maintain removable filters according to the manufacturer's instructions. Do not reach inside the unit to clean the fan blades, lean out to handle debris on the exterior wall, or tighten wiring, measure pressure or top up refrigerant yourself.
Explain the existing problem first
Record the model, the abnormality before shutdown, and what happened when it was used again, and provide photos of the unit body, installation, and any visible safety-related areas. Cleaning handles dirt buildup; poor cooling or dripping water may need separate inspection. Do not assume every problem will definitely be fixed by one maintenance service.
After confirming the actual schedule, cleaned components, surrounding protection, restoration and test run, any extra drainage, outdoor unit work or repairs will be quoted separately. Keep records of completed and pending items; energy use also depends on the room, weather and settings, and no fixed electricity-bill reduction is promised.
