Common Methods of Air Conditioner Maintenance

Contents

Summer weather is hot, and air conditioners are an important appliance. Long-term use without proper maintenance may affect performance. It is recommended to learn how to maintain your AC.

Regular AC filter cleaning

Check the easily removable dust filter according to the model manual. Heavily dusty environments, frequent use or proximity to cooking fumes may require more frequent cleaning. Whether the filter can be washed, what cleaning method to use, and whether replacement is needed should follow the original manufacturer's requirements; only reinstall after it is completely dry. Do not treat once a month as a hard rule for all models.

Thoroughly clean the AC indoor unit

In addition to the filter, the inside of the main AC unit also needs regular cleaning. You can use a vacuum cleaner to remove dust from inside the unit, then wipe the surface with a soft cloth. If there is grease or stains, wash with warm water and a neutral detergent. After cleaning, be sure to dry the unit thoroughly to avoid leaving water marks. For areas that are hard to clean, a toothpick or small brush may be used appropriately.

If refrigerant is insufficient, first identify the cause; do not top it up on a fixed schedule

If cooling performance drops after long-term use, it is recommended that a professional technician inspect the system. If refrigerant needs to be added or related technical issues need to be handled, this must be done by a qualified technician to ensure safety.

Check electrical accessories

In addition to the unit itself, the power cord, plug and fuse and other accessories also need regular inspection. Make sure they are not damaged, aged or loose, to avoid leakage or other safety hazards. If any problem is found, it should be replaced or repaired immediately to ensure safe and stable operation of the air conditioner.

Find professional help

Although some simple maintenance tasks can be done on our own, for more professional repair and maintenance work, it is best to seek help from a professional team. They have extensive repair experience and professional tools and equipment, and can inspect and maintain the AC more thoroughly. At the same time, professional work is safer and more reliable, reducing the risk of accidents. Therefore, for more complex maintenance items, we should still seek professional help promptly.

Routine filter maintenance, internal cleaning and fault inspection should be kept separate. Refrigerant is not fuel that is consumed every year and usually does not need regular top-up; only after the relevant need is confirmed should it be handled by suitable personnel. Maintenance does not guarantee that every part will remain intact, and it cannot replace repair of an existing fault.
