Steam cleaning the tub: check materials and manufacturer-approved use range first
Contents
When cleaning a bathtub with a steam machine, first confirm the bathtub material, coating, joints and the scope of use of the cleaning equipment; do not decide to spray and clean directly based only on the brand or the words high temperature. If the information is unclear, the surface is damaged, or the manufacturer does not allow it, do not try it yourself.
First check the two instructions
Check the bathtub cleaning and care requirements first, then check the acceptable surfaces, accessories and operating methods of the steam cleaner. Do not apply experience from other households' plastic, enamel or coated surfaces to your own bathtub, and do not assume that one cleaning accessory is safe for every surface.
Do not use a small-scale test in place of proper suitability confirmation.
Only use it at a suitable location according to the instructions when the manufacturer allows it; if the information is unclear, do not verify it by raising the temperature, moving the nozzle closer, or staying in place repeatedly. Protect nearby electrical appliances and heat-sensitive parts, and do not spray blindly toward drainage fittings, seams, or control components.
There is more than one type of stain
Record soap scum, water stains, or other marks, and choose a method according to the bathtub manufacturer’s requirements; do not assume steam alone can completely remove them. Do not mix cleaning chemicals yourself, and check the suitable surface and product label before using any item.
Operation and drying as arranged on site
Follow the power supply, water filling and burn prevention instructions for the steam cleaner, and avoid operating it on slippery surfaces. After cleaning, dry the surface as required for the bathtub and maintain proper ventilation. Do not describe a fixed bathtub as something that can be moved to a ventilated place to air dry.
If unsure, stop and confirm first.
If there is peeling coating, cracks, joint issues, or concern about the material, ask the bathtub manufacturer or an appropriate service provider; do not cover it up with a stronger cleaning method. This article is not an operating manual for any specific steam cleaner or bathtub model, and it does not promise refurbishment, sterilisation, or removal of all stains.
