Top-loading washing machine cleaning: Is steam suitable and how to maintain the drum

For top-loading washing machines, the tub, top lid and control panel should not all be steam-cleaned at high temperature. Kärcher is a brand of equipment, not proof of washing machine compatibility. Without clear instructions for the specific washing machine and steam cleaner models, steam will not be sprayed into the machine or electrical parts, and sterilisation is not promised.
First check the model and the user maintenance scope clearly
Identify the model, capacity, user manual, and drum-cleaning program; some detergent trays or lint filter parts can be removed according to the manual, but that does not mean the wash drum, pulsator, or control components can be removed by the resident.
Tub odour, residue and pre-cleaning preparation
Before handling detachable parts or the casing, switch off the unit according to the manual. Do not touch plugs with wet hands. If there is water leakage, breaker tripping or damaged power cord, stop using the unit and arrange repair first; do not continue the cleaning program.
Before scheduling tub maintenance, remove all clothing and check that there are no items left inside the machine. If using cleaning programmes and products allowed by the manufacturer, handle it according to that model's instructions. Do not mix different cleaners or increase the dosage yourself.
Stains inside the tub and deep dirt in the machine parts may not be handled by the same method. Do not insert the nozzle into the tub, shaft area or seams; services involving tub removal must first confirm the model, whether removal is possible, and the fee. Not every washing machine cleaning service includes tub removal.
Wipe the casing and control panel according to the manual; do not spray water or steam onto the buttons, display, wiring or casing joints. A dry exterior does not mean the electrical components have not been dampened.
After maintenance, restore removable parts according to the manual, and watch for leaks, unusual noise and drainage abnormalities. If the electrical control parts have been exposed to water, or if there is a burning smell or a tripped breaker, do not power on the unit again yourself to test it.
Please provide the top-open refrigerator model, photos of the tub, stain or odour condition, and the original fault, so customer service can distinguish between general cleaning, dismantling wash and repair. The cleaning result depends on the amount of dirt and the workable scope; the steam equipment name does not guarantee sterilisation, repair or a longer service life.
