Must the AC blower be dismantled for cleaning? Model, access and quotation assessment
Contents
Whether an AC blower needs dismantling cannot be judged by dust alone, nor should dismantling be required in every case; it must be assessed by model, accessibility, fixing method and condition. The blower is connected to the motor, bearings and surrounding parts, so residents should not remove fixings themselves or insert tools for cleaning.
Removing the fan drum | Why the fan drum needs cleaning
The fan drum pushes air, and dirt build-up may affect airflow or cause unusual noise, but not all noise comes from dirt. Please explain the unusual noise, changes in airflow, and when it started, so cleaning is not used as a substitute for fault diagnosis.
What information should be prepared before the assessment?
Provide photos of the model, the unit and the side clearance, plus any unusual noise, smell or poor cooling. Take photos from a safe position; do not remove the casing, force the blower wheel to turn, or reach into the air outlet to look for fixing screws.
Who decides whether dismantling and cleaning are needed?
Suitable staff will assess, according to the model and site conditions, whether dismantling is required, what built-up dirt can be handled, and whether extra works are needed. Switching off the power does not mean residents may dismantle the unit, and it does not guarantee that every unit can be dismantled and cleaned in the same way.
What is included in the cleaning scope and protection measures?
Confirm whether the fan drum, surrounding heat-exchange parts and drainage position are included, as well as electronic protection, waste removal and dismantling limits. Do not spray more cleaner yourself or insert brushes or cotton swabs into the unit.
How should restoration and test-running be followed up?
Restoration, fixing and test-running are arranged by the service staff. Please check the completed scope, existing wear and any follow-up issues. If there is any unusual noise afterwards, record it and contact us for follow-up; do not dismantle or adjust it yourself.
Maintenance should be assessed by model, usage and dirt buildup; there is no rule that every blower wheel must be dismantled and cleaned at least once a year. Cleaning, ageing parts and fault repairs should be confirmed separately, and dismantling for cleaning does not mean the equipment will be as new.
