Sound insulation pads and anti-vibration pads: do not lift the unit yourself to add pads
Contents
Airborne fan noise and vibration transmitted through the bracket or wall require different solutions. Anti-vibration pads may be part of some installation designs, but they are not a universal fix for all AC noise.
First confirm the noise and support conditions.
An abnormal blower wheel, motor, loose parts or rusted brackets all require a first check of the cause. If the unit is shaking, the support is clearly damaged or there is a risk of falling objects, stop using the equipment, notify management and arrange an assessment.
Do not push or shake the unit by hand to test how stable it is, and do not lean out of the window to film the bracket. You can record the original sound from a safe position and note when and under what conditions it occurs.
Thicker does not mean better
The pad material must match the load, compression characteristics, weather resistance and fixing design. If it is too soft, too thick or the size is unsuitable, it may affect support and stability. Do not choose based only on the noise-reduction claims of online products.
Soundproof cotton and load-bearing anti-vibration pads serve different purposes. Do not use household sponges or any random rubber block to support the unit, and do not treat one material as the only suitable choice for all models.
Do not block drainage and heat dissipation
The installation angle, drain outlet, chassis design and air inlet/outlet clearance of the unit body must be kept according to the model requirements. Filling the base with pads is not always best, and not all units can simply be set front-high rear-low.
Lifting the unit yourself, removing the core unit, or loosening brackets and adding padding involves heavy objects, heights and electrical risks. Turning off the power does not eliminate the risk of falling objects or support failure, so it should be handled by suitable personnel.
Improvement plan requires on-site confirmation
This may involve part repair, refixing, proper anti-vibration design or other work. Cleaning only removes accessible dirt; it will not restore a rusted bracket or guarantee a specified noise reduction in decibels.
Confirm the scope of work, materials, construction and post-completion inspection before comparing quotes. Do not use padding as a substitute for addressing public nuisance or ignore the original installation requirements.

Reference sources and applicable scope
This article provides a preliminary guide only and does not replace an on-site diagnosis. Original manufacturer functions and operation apply only to the corresponding model; please refer to your own unit's manual. For fixed electrical installations, inspection should be arranged by a registered electrical contractor.
