Same Class 1 energy label, how do AC electricity use and costs compare? Check the model and conditions first

Contents

The same Class 1 energy label does not mean the same electricity consumption. When comparing, check the actual model, capacity, CSPF and label conditions. Without the report year and sample details, a 33% difference cannot be called the latest Consumer Council result, and it is even less valid to assume cleaning the AC can save the same percentage.

Ignoring routine cleaning, which leads to higher electricity consumption

Dirt buildup may affect airflow and heat exchange, but load, installation, control and faults also affect power use. Do not assume that high electricity bills alone mean the unit must be cleaned. Maintainable filters should be handled according to the original manufacturer’s method.

Use auxiliary equipment to improve home cooling performance

Adjust settings as needed, block direct sunlight and avoid unnecessary operation when no one is home; whether a fan improves comfort depends on the space and usage. These are general usage checks and are not claimed to come from any unmatched specific report.

The scope of internal cleaning and repair must be confirmed separately; do not state that every model is subject to fortnightly water washing or deep cleaning each time. A properly sealed refrigerant system is not normally dismantled or topped up during cleaning, and cleaning does not guarantee the service life of the unit.
