Replacing air conditioner copper pipes: first confirm the fault, routing, and scope of work

Contents

Whether the copper pipes need to be replaced should be decided based on the inspection results and the original factory specifications. Not every case of weak cooling requires pipe replacement. Refrigerant piping, drain pipes, and air ducts are different parts, and the copper pipes should not be described as the pipes that send cold air throughout the home.

First state the issue that needs to be handled.

Please provide the indoor and outdoor model numbers, existing wiring and any past repair records, and describe whether the issue is poor cooling, water leakage or something else. Visible oil stains or damaged insulation are only clues for inspection; they do not confirm the leak location, prove that the whole pipe must be replaced, or confirm that another party's work was faulty.

Check according to specifications when reusing or replacing parts

Ask how the pipe diameter, length, connections, insulation and system requirements are confirmed, and which concealed parts still need inspection. Do not assume an old pipe is definitely suitable just because the new and old units are the same brand, the same horsepower, or look intact, and do not treat a clean exterior as an inspection of the inside of the pipe.

The quote lists surrounding works

Confirm what is included for wiring, wall penetration, renovation reinstatement, support, insulation, drainage and power supply, and also check what approvals are needed from management or the owner. Do not remove pipes, release refrigerant, bend pipes or pull on the existing connections yourself.

System testing will be arranged by service staff

Ask how the factory-required inspection, connection and completion tests will be carried out, and keep records of the model, materials used and scope of work. This article does not provide DIY disassembly, connection or refrigerant charging steps for refrigerant systems, and does not use the name of any tool to guarantee that all hidden issues have been ruled out.

Repair results are accepted based on the actual work carried out

Record the post-service test run and any items still needing follow-up, and confirm the relevant maintenance terms. Replacing the hose does not guarantee repair of other components, improvement of all cooling problems, or permanent leak prevention. Cleaning services and hose works should also be quoted separately.
