1. Installation location: Inverter window units or larger, heavier
The design of an inverter window AC may be more complex, so it can be thicker than a fixed-speed window AC. Some models may be about 10 cm deeper and also heavier. Users who want to install an inverter window AC should first confirm whether the installation location is suitable and whether there is enough space.
2. Energy efficiency: inverter split units outperform window units
Based on the Consumer Council’s inverter split-unit test report published in 2017 and the inverter window unit comparison sample in 2019, it can be seen that the energy efficiency of inverter window units is not as good as inverter split units.
3. Cooling capacity: Check whether the claimed performance is exaggerated
Cooling capacity refers to how fast the AC can move indoor heat outdoors; the higher the number, the faster the cooling speed.
If the cooling capacity of the air conditioner is not enough for the indoor space, it will need to run at high speed for long periods, and then it cannot fully deliver the high energy-efficiency advantage of inverter technology.
4. Airflow and controls should meet usage needs
When comparing airflow, check the manufacturer's listed fan speed settings, air direction and corresponding noise data, then choose according to the room and usage needs. A bigger airflow or higher fan speed is not always better, and strong airflow alone cannot guarantee even cooling across the room, lower power use or better suitability.
