Does AC cleaning include the outdoor unit? Scope of indoor cleaning and the condenser
Contents
A split unit has indoor and outdoor parts, but a single "AC cleaning" quote does not mean both sides are fully included. It is more useful to ask clearly which units, components, and access conditions are covered, rather than only comparing the price per unit.
Indoor cleaning and outdoor condenser treatment are not the same item.
The indoor section involves air supply and condensate collection, while the outdoor section includes the condenser, fan, and other components. The environment, electrical protection, and work method are different on both sides, so one process cannot be applied to all models.
Our domestic indoor air-conditioning cleaning price list does not include outdoor condensers. For outdoor units, please first provide the location, model and problem details, and the feasible scope and quotation will be confirmed separately; window units must also be confirmed according to the overall model and working conditions.
What should be checked if outdoor heat dissipation is blocked?
Observe from a safe position whether there is anything blocking the air intake or exhaust, and whether there is visible dust buildup. The heat-dissipation environment will affect operation, but insufficient cooling or increased electricity use cannot be determined from photos alone as definitely caused by dirt on the outdoor unit.
Screening panels, narrow spaces, hot air being drawn back in, and equipment faults may each require different handling. Do not add covers, move the unit or remove the fan guard yourself; any improvement to the surroundings must still comply with the manufacturer's ventilation and installation requirements.
When arranging split-unit heat dissipation work, separately check dirt buildup on the radiator, intake and exhaust clearance, and future maintenance space. Cleaning cannot make up for an unsuitable original installation location. Front, back, left, and right clearance requirements, as well as the arrangement of multiple units, vary by model, so a single universal distance cannot be applied, and more sunlight is not necessarily better for heat dissipation. Before purchase or renovation, the installer should confirm according to the matching model's installation documents and site restrictions.
Safety at the location matters more than whether it can be cleaned
When the outdoor unit is on a windowsill, exterior wall, or light well, support, working access, management arrangements, and safety equipment must be considered. Even if it can be seen from the window, that does not mean it can be safely reached, cleaned, or removed by hand.
Whether scaffolding or another suitable work platform is needed should be assessed according to the location, works and safety requirements, not just the floor level. Scaffolding alone does not mean wastewater collection, protection of common areas or management office approval has been handled; each item should be confirmed before quotation.
High-pressure water, cleaning agents and an unsuitable rinsing direction may damage parts or cause electrical components to become damp. Do not stand on a window ledge, extend a hose outside the wall, or rinse electrical areas yourself; a suitable person should assess the equipment and site conditions.
Enquire about TimesExplain the problem together with the work location
Please provide the indoor and outdoor unit model numbers, photos that can be taken from the ground, the exterior wall location and the property's management requirements. State whether you want dust cleaned, there is an unusual noise, or cooling has worsened, so that repair work is not mistaken for a simple cleaning job.
Quote confirmation should separate the scope of cleaning, repair, brackets, piping and safe working access. Photos can help with the initial assessment, but they cannot guarantee support, hidden connections or all high-level work have been confirmed; an on-site inspection may be needed.

Common questions
Does the household split-unit price list include the outdoor condenser?
Our domestic indoor air-conditioning cleaning price list does not include outdoor condensers. If related work is needed, please provide the location and equipment details first, and the feasible scope and quotation will be confirmed separately.
If dust has built up on the outdoor unit, can I rinse it with a hose?
Do not high-pressure wash it yourself or reach out from the window ledge to operate it. Electrical protection, heat exchanger fins, and safe access all have requirements, and the work must be handled by a suitable person according to the manufacturer’s instructions and site conditions.
Reference sources and applicable scope
This article provides a preliminary guide only and does not replace an on-site diagnosis. Original manufacturer functions and operation apply only to the corresponding model; please refer to your own unit's manual. For fixed electrical installations, inspection should be arranged by a registered electrical contractor.
