Split AC vacuuming: understand the purpose; on-site values should follow the manufacturer's specifications
Contents
When installing a split AC, proper pipe handling and vacuuming are used to reduce air and moisture that should not remain in the system. The actual procedure and acceptance requirements must follow the installation documents for the relevant model, not a fixed number of minutes.
Vacuuming and leak testing have different purposes
The system must be handled according to the manufacturer's procedures for connection, leak testing and drying. Vacuuming cannot replace all pressure leak tests, and one gauge needle that does not move once cannot prove that the entire system has no issues.
Do not use releasing refrigerant as a substitute for proper vacuuming or testing. Refrigerant, pressure, and valve work should be handled by trained personnel using the proper equipment.
You cannot accept it using one universal set of values.
Required equipment, vacuum gauge readings, holding conditions, and interpretation conditions should be confirmed according to the system documentation and professional procedures. Old articles that directly treat values in different units as equivalent cannot be used as a work standard.
How long the vacuuming takes depends on the system and site conditions; seeing the technician connect a pump or hearing the pump running is not enough to prove all requirements have been completed.
What can residents ask to confirm?
Before quoting and before work starts, you can confirm the pipe specifications for the specified model, leak testing and vacuuming arrangements, conditions for adding refrigerant, and final testing after completion. Keep the model, scope of work and completion record.
These are communication and confirmation items, not instructions for residents to connect a vacuum gauge, open a service valve, release refrigerant or dismantle pipe connections themselves. Do not try it yourself just because tool kits are available online.
Installation quality involves more than one step.
Capacity, heat dissipation, drainage, brackets, power supply and piping all affect operation. Vacuuming does not mean other work can be skipped, and not all insufficient cooling can be solved by vacuuming again.
Basic installation and extra work are confirmed separately. Running a new power supply is not included in basic installation. Warranty coverage is handled according to the confirmed installation work and terms, and fixed energy-saving results are not guaranteed.

Reference sources and applicable scope
This article provides a preliminary guide only and does not replace an on-site diagnosis. Original manufacturer functions and operation apply only to the corresponding model; please refer to your own unit's manual. For fixed electrical installations, inspection should be arranged by a registered electrical contractor.
